A safe, secure and learning environment where all children are able to experience a sense of belonging, being where childhood is a time to be, in the here and now and becoming where the child actively particaptes as citizens .

A stimulating and educational play based environment where the children are exposed to wide range of learning experiences.

An active learning environment in which all children are encouraged to explore and interact in the environment to make (or construct) meaning and knowledge through their experiences, social interactions and negotiations with others.

Our teaching team play a crucial role of encouraging all children to discover deeper meanings and make connections among ideas and between concepts, processes and representations.

At Columbia Park ELC we focus on growth mindset: in which our community, believes their intelligence and abilities can be improved by effort and actions. This is a necessary part of becoming an effective learner and can create a love of learning and understanding that persistence with increased motivation and effort leads to improvement.

Acknowledgement of Country

Columbia Park Early Learning Centre acknowledges the Woi Wurrung people specifically the
Wurundjeri people and Boon Wurrung people as the Traditional Owners of the Land on which
the Centre stands. Columbia Park Early Learning Centre respectfully recognises Elders both
past, present and extends this respect to the Elders from other communities.

This is evident with the use of the Early Years Learning Framework and Victorian Early Years Learning Development Framework which underpin all the practices and policies on the holistic wellbeing of every child.

Our Quality Improvement Plan is available for families to contribute with links to the

Education and care services operating under the National Quality Framework which we are assessed and rated against the National Quality Standards and the requirements of the National Law and National Regulations.

The National Quality Standards (NQS) outlines seven areas that have been identified by research as critical to the provision of quality early childhood education and care.

The seven quality areas are:
1. Educational program and practice
2. Children’s health and safety
3. Physical environment
4. Staffing arrangements, including staff-to-child ratios and qualifications
5. Relationships with children
6. Collaborative partnerships with families and communities
7. Leadership and service management.
